No more tally marks in a notebook
Tracking class participation usually ends up as tally marks in a notebook, a sheet of paper that goes missing or a spreadsheet nobody updates in time. Then grading day comes and you have to remember who spoke up and who didn’t.
This participation tracker replaces all of that with a list on screen: every time a student takes part you tap +1 on their card and their bar grows. At the end of the term you have an exact count for each student, without adding anything up by hand.
- 2 Liam 8/10
- 3 Olivia 7/10
- 4 Noah 4/10
- 5 Ava 2/10
How it works
- Create your class. Give it a name, such as "Grade 3A – Math", and an optional participation goal for the term.
- Paste your student list. One name per line, copied from Excel or Word. You get one card per student in seconds.
- Track participation. When someone takes part, tap +1. If you make a mistake, the minus button fixes it.
- Close the term and start the next. When the term or semester ends, start a new one: counters go back to zero and the previous term stays saved.
Tip: use the Today filter to see at a glance who hasn’t taken part yet in today’s lesson. Those students are flagged as "Not yet participating".

Ideas for using participation points
A fair participation grade
Many schools ask for a participation grade. With a real count for each student, the grade stops being a gut feeling and is easy to explain to parents.
Share the floor fairly
The Pick at random button chooses a student, giving a better chance to those who have taken part the least. That way the same few voices don’t do all the talking.
Motivate without pressure
Projecting the leaderboard at the end of the week turns participation into a small class challenge. If you’d rather not show positions, stick with the cards view, which only shows each student’s progress.
Privacy: all you need is each student’s first name or a nickname. No emails, photos or surnames are required.
